LG G5 up for pre-order at Carphone Warehouse in the UK, arrives by April 1

UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has the LG G5 listed for pre-order with a SIM-free price quoted at £499.99. Amazon kicked off its G5 pre-orders a few days ago at £529, but is now down to the same £499.99.

Clove was first to list this year's LG flagship close to a month ago, and price there is now set at £529.99 (previously £539), but you're getting a pair of B&O in-ear headphones. Not the B&O add-on DAC though.

A few things make CW's offer more appealing than the others, and chief among those is the delivery date, April 1, which rings well with the annouced global launch on March 31. Amazon will join the party a week later on April 8, and Clove says first week of April, which can mean anything.

Additionally, the Silver paint job will be exclusive to Carphone Warehouse.
Thanks for the tip, Matt!

New leaked Meizu Pro 6 shots reveal a lot of design continuity from the Pro 5

The Meizu Pro 6 has been gathering a lot of attention lately with its frequent visits to the rumor mill. There might actually be quite a lot to be excited about, as rumors have hinted at things like 6GB of RAM and 3D Touch capabilities.

From the looks of things, the Meizu Pro 6 bears a striking resemblance to its own predecessor - the Pro 5 more than anything else.

In the photos we can clearly see the metal unibody design with the characteristic curved sides. Similarities extend even further to the beefy rear camera sensor and its design, as well as the quite distinctive Meizu Mtouch fingerprint scanner, which the manufacturer has apparently decided to stick with. The display on the Meizu Pro 6 also looks quite impressive, mainly because it appears to extend to the very edges of the front panel, hinting that the phone might be bezel-less or at least come close to the effect.

As for other alleged specs on the model, we currently expect a 5.5-inch FullHD display, 4GB of RAM in the base model (6GB being reserved for the very top tier) and 64GB of onboard storage, possibly going up to 128GB. The camera setup should consist of a 21MP main shooter and a 5MP selfie one on the front. Last, but definitely not least, we already know the chipset inside the Pro 6 will be the new MediaTek Helio X25.

It was developed through a partnership of both parties and will apparently be a Meizu exclusive, at least or the first few months after its release. It is basically an enhanced version of the X20 and has a three cluster design - 2x Cortex A72 cores and two quartets of A53. The difference with the Helio X20, being the higher 2.5 GHz clock rate of the A72 cores and the 850 MHz speed of the GPU.

The device is going to be just 6.4mm thick, pack in a 3,000mAh battery, and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI. Said to carry a $500 price tag, the P9 is expected to be made official on April 6, along with some of its variants including the P9 Max and P9 Lite.

Lenovo phablet powered by Windows 10 leaks

If you recall, Lenovo was supposed to launch Windows 10 phones somewhere around mid last year. That, as we know, didn't happen, but the Chinese company hasn't given up the development of such devices. The proof came in the form of a Windows-powered Lenovo handset that just leaked.

Spotted at a Microsoft event in China today, the handset is clearly a phablet sporting a metal frame with rounded corners. The Lenovo branding is on the top-left and a button with Windows logo is at the bottom-center.

Sadly, nothing else - including the specs as well as pricing and availability - is currently known at this point.

LG G5 Review

LG added a brand new phone in its flagship line. Metal design, Always On display and Wide angle rare camera makes the device more unique as compare to its predecessors however it contains few features of LG V10.  The company kept MicroSD and removable battery feature it its flagship which is missing in the iPhone mobiles and even Galaxy S6.

Design

Al last, LG moved from plastic and leather back and this time the company heading towards the right direction, though Samsung latest model Galaxy S7 comes with glass and metal fuss and iPhone 6s comes with aluminum body.  The LG G5 looks different than its antecedent LG G4, so in design segment the company tries to give different than other leading mobile makers.
Metallic body of the device feels smooth you can easily use and grip the handset. The power button is on the back while volume buttons are moved on the left side of the phone.  The power button also functions as fingerprint scanner. The company upgraded bottom port of the device uses a USB-C connection. The mobile comes in four sizzling colors such as Silver, Gold, Pink and Titan. There is nothing spectacular in color section.

Features and Specifications

One of the major features of the phone is Always on Display which is borrowed from LG V10. Upper part of the device shows notifications such as time, date, and other important information. Another great feature is wide angle second camera on back. The smartphone comes with high end specifications that we can expect from a 2016 model. LG G5 is powered with SD820 and 4GB RAM. It comes with 32GB storage that can be enhanced via MicroSD card. The 5.3 inches with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and the mobile runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Camera

The LG G5 comes with dual cameras on the back 16 MP (f/1.8) + 8 MP (f/2.4), laser autofocus, OIS, LED flash and the camera has Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR features as well.  There is also a 8 MP camera on the front side of the mobile. At a vivid 135 degrees, the camera essentially perceives more than the human eye of about 120 to 124 degrees. Its field of view is able to capture everything you see and more.

Battery

Last year model LG G4 came with 3,000mAh battery but this time company reduced battery capacity and LG G5 has a 2800 mAh removable battery which keeps the device on. Usually we can remove a phone battery by removing back of the device but LG changed the way we approach the battery.   You can fetch bottom frame of your LG G5 mobile for removing the battery. The battery capacity of this device is a debatable issue, but if you face any problem with your device battery you can easily change it.

Lenovo Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus hands-on

Yesterday was a truly busy day at MWC, perhaps even a bit too busy with LG, Samsung and Huawei, to name a few, all bombarding us with interesting announcements. Amidst all the commotion, we narrowly missed Lenovo, which quietly announced a pair of mid-range Android smartphones - the Vibe K5 and K5 Plus.

Thankfully, we took note and returned to Lenovo's booth for some hands-on time with the units. First things first - a quick specs rundown. Both models have a 5-inch display the difference being in the resolution - 720p for the basic one and 1080p for the Plus. Both LCD panels look perfectly adequate, although not exceptional in any way. Sharpness and colors seem good, but glare is perhaps a bit too much for our taste. Still, it might be the show floor lighting and we won't rush to any judgment.

The other major difference has to do with the processors - a Snapdragon 415 inside the Vibe K5 and a Snapdragon 616 for the Vibe K5 Plus variant, which shouldn't actually be that far apart in terms of performance. The rest of their shared specs sheet includes 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot and a 2,750 mAh user-replaceable battery.

This all makes for a nicely-rounded mod-range package that might not set any performance record but is still perfectly adequate in delivering the full Android experience. The removable battery is also a nice touch in our opinion, as we believe its convenience still enjoys a lot of fan love. And judging by the lengths LG went to in this department with the G5, we are not the only ones to share this view.

This coincides with our initial impression of the floor models - the Android 5.1 ROM showed no noticeable problems or performance hiccups. The camera setup consists of a 13MP main shooter and a 5MP one on the front. Also, both devices are LTE-enabled, Dual SIM.

Another major aspect of the Vibe K5 is sound. Lenovo is marketing them as audio-centric devices, which it justifies with the included Dolby Atmos support and dual speaker setup. The latter sound pretty good, but again, we can't really judge the full-scale merits of the audio experience before we get our hands on a test unit and put it through our rigorous loudspeaker and output tests, which will surely happen eventually.

As for the built quality and feel of the K5 and K5 Plus - they are definitely solid, and the slight curve around both sides on the back make for a slicker look. That particular design trend is gaining momentum quick.

Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S6 starts receiving Marshmallow update

Following T-Mobile, Sprint has also started rolling out the Marshmallow update to Samsung Galaxy S6 units on its network. Carrying a build number of G920PVPU3CPB6, the update bumps the Android version to 6.0.1.

Weighing in at 1235.87MB, the update brings along the the usual Marshmallow goodies, including Doze, Google Now on Tap, and redesigned app permissions. In addition, it also includes other tweaks like an updated TouchWiz interface and a new vibration pattern concept.

The update has just started rolling out, so it may take some time before it hits your device. If you haven't received the OTA notification yet, and are feeling impatient, you can also manually check for the update by heading to your handset's Settings menu.

There's currently no confirmation on whether or not Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has also started receiving the update.

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is now being updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Sony has started rolling out the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Xperia Z5 Compact. This follows in the footsteps of the earlier update for the Xperia Z5.

The new software for the smaller Z5 seems to be currently out in Europe only, with reports of people getting it coming in from Finland as well as the UK. Now that it's finally making its way to devices, the update is bound to reach more and more territories in the near future.

In the UK, you're looking at a 1.1GB download, with the software version being 32.1.A.1.163 once the update is installed. As you'd expect, the new release packs in all the goodies that Google has included into Marshmallow - things such as the new permissions system, Doze Mode for better standby battery life, and Direct Share. Sony has included a new camera interface, as well as the Xperia Messaging app with new stickers. Obviously, we expect some bug fixes to be in too.

Thanks for the tip, Mohammed Alogaily!

HTC to make Nexus devices for the next three years

It is no secret that HTC is struggling big time on the Android market. But, while other major players like Samsung and LG are focusing on increasingly more impressive handset offers to wow fans, HTC might have decided to adopt a more business approach in the face of an alleged long-term partnership with Google.

Some yet unconfirmed information was spotted on Chinese social network Weibo, claiming that HTC has struck a partnership with Google to manufacture Nexus devices for the next three years. This comes along with a hint that two new Nexus handsets are already planned for this year, one with a 5-inch display and the other a 5.5-inch one.

If this story holds water then HTC might have just secured its future on the mobile market for quite some time. Nexus fans can also be fairly sure of the well-being of their beloved brand, as HTC does have a history of doing it justice.

The Nexus One was quite impressive when in came out and the same goes for the Nexus 9 tablet, which offered superb performance, an early taste of Android 5.0 and also stunning looks with aluminum edging.

Save the date: Huawei P9 coming on April 6

Huawei sent out "save the date" notes to the press, promising to "Change the way you see the world" on April 6. It doesn't take much to guess that this will be the Huawei P9 announcement.

The hashtag is pretty curious - #oo. Unless all rumors about the P9 so far are wrong, the phone will feature a dual camera setup, which can fairly accurately be rendered in ASCII art as oo.

We expect to see multiple versions of the P9, allegedly four in total. The mainstream model will have a 5.2" screen and a Kirin 950 chipset, then there's the P9max with a 6.2" QHD+ screen, a P9lite isn't out of the question either.

Thanks for sending this in, Momchil!

Verizon and T-Mobile HTC One (M8) units are now receiving Android Marshmallow

As originally promised, HTC will bring Android Marshmallow to all of its flagship handsets, going back to and including the One (M8). Today the OTA has started seeding for both the Verizon and T-Mobile carrier versions of the phone.

The former is receiving a software version 6.21.605.3 package, while the latter has the build 6.20.531.5. Both, however are based on Android 6.0 and bring about all the Marshmallow goodies Google's OS has to offer, like run time permissions, app Dozing, Google Now on Tap and many others. The software should also come with new volume controls for notifications, audio and alarms and simplified screen capture.

In other news, T-Mobile is also spreading some Marshmallow love to its more price-conscious clients, owners of the LG G Stylo. It has also started receiving an Android 6.0 OTA, already spotted in the wild with a version number of "H63120b" and weighing in at 767MB.
Bear in mind that both carriers are conducting a staged rollout of all the updates, so it might be a few days before your handset receives the payload. T-Mobile has even cited a rather lengthy update window, ranging from March 7 to March 21, so a bit more patience might still be required.

Before this, Nokia cut out 70 workers but they change their decision to half of it, so the source of "Royter" say.

Preparation of Nokia

Until now the authority don't make anything clear officially but they are starting their work with a strong team of 600 members. They will work of-course for the mobile phone also with the digital video, health content and new technology with their syllabus.

The market expert comment on Nokia's come back in not normal way, they said the way of Nokia is not going to be so smooth, whereas a company like Apple can put the benefit of 90 percent in their mobile business, in this sense, Nokia has to come in a market where they have give a very rough exam. But Nokia will get an Advancement of its patent. They have expend so much money in the last 20 year or so time, that they are not going lose this in so easy way.

Nokia will have one more big Advantage that the experts of "Alcatel-Lucent" will work for the Nokia. In this year on the month of April Nokia declare to purchase about 1700 billion Dollar telecom equipments.

Nokia authority said, they are not going to make the same mistake as they done in the past. They will run with the flow of technology and trend. Last time they can not make up the themselves with the choice of customers but this time they just want to run like a bullet.

To avoid the risk of phone business Nokia is walking in a different way. They are on the way to search "Brand licence" helping company. They will permit the company who give brand licence to use the Nokia brand. They will use the design, patent of Nokia phone, also produce and market the phone, Nokia just take the royalty.

CEO of Nokia "Rajib Suri" said, Nokia is not going to run in the conventional way. Instead of this, they will sell the brand licence and earn more profit. To make Nokia more beneficial company, recently they have sold the "Heir Map" business.

Market researcher company "Gartner's's" expert "Silvian Fabri" said, Nokia will coming very strongly then ever was.

Competitor of Nokia

Brand licence is nothing new in the technology world. Before this, Europian company "Philips" and "Alcatel" earn huge benefits through the brand selling to the companies Asian countries. But in the market of Smartphone it will be very hard to gain profit from the Chainees company name "Siaomi" and the Indian company name "Micromax" by providing brand licence in the Asia. To produce agreement basis phones and development the software then nothing is really hard for the companies to release new phone in the market.

Market researcher organization "CCS Insite's" expert "Ben Wood" said, In the recent future years we are going to a hard competition inside the mobile companies. Now it is very easy gain the complexity of enter in the mobile market. Any company can took his place in the market in this time. Brand value is the key for the side of Nokia. But now it is a matter of debate.

Nokia claim that, Their brand is familiar with more than 400 crore people in the all over the world. But at the same time, market researching organization "Interbrand" quotes, there was a time when Nokia was in the top 5 of all the popular Mobile brands, but now it is very hard to give it place in the top 100.

Former CEO of Nokia "Anshi Vanjoki" said, this going to be so easy for Nokia to re-enter in the market. He further said, A brand that absent from the market for along time, it does matter whether the brand is famous or not, the customer will for get the name. If the brand have some fans or some new customer can attract to it, then hopefully it can run in the market.

As a matter of fact, Nokia was a heavy popular mobile in the whole world in the time of starting of mobile phones. So, we can hope in the Smartphone market of huge competition they can come back with their best to the market that it never was in the past and they win the heart of the old and new customers.

Design: This phone is 9.5 mm thick. This is not the slimmest android smartphone, but this phone is slim enough. Power on/off and volume up/down button located on the right side. USB charging port and 3.5 mm standard audio jack both are located on the top side. Weight is 151 grams with battery. Customer always wants a nice and good looking android smartphone. I think this phone will capture good market share in future.

Display: This phone has 5 inch IPS display and it has 720*1280 pixel resolution. Pixel density is unknown but I think this is not an issue with a cheap android smartphone. Viewing angels are also very decent with good color accuracy. Last year IPS display was very expensive. Most of the high-end smart phones were used IPS display but now mid-range android phones are using IPS display. We were very satisfied by this IPS display.

Camera and Multimedia: Main camera is 8 mega pixels and front camera is 5 mega pixels. This camera is not bad compared to its budget. Nowadays a lot of people take selfie with their smartphone so most of the recent smartphone has a good front camera. This smartphone has a 5 mega pixel camera which is really impressive for taking selfie. I think 5 mega pixel is enough for selfie lover. Its speaker is very loud. This phone can play any type of audio and video without any problem. We enjoyed overall multimedia performance of this android smartphone.

Performance and Memory: We played some android games. Most of the games were very smooth during playback. Menu transection of this phone is really very smooth. I think you can use all type of android games and applications. RAM is 1 GB and internal memory is 8 GB so I think internal memory is also enough. If you want to expand its memory then also you can use a Micro SD card up to 32 GB. Above then 32 GB SD card will not support this device.

Battery: Its battery is 2300 mAh which is not enough for this type of android smartphone. I think minimum 3000 mAh is suitable for this type of android smartphone. We charged this device 2 times in a single day.

Conclusion: Thank you for reading our review. If you want to buy this android smartphone then please at first go to showroom and observe this phone yourself. I think before buying any smartphone customer should compare and observe smartphone. If your budget is 7290 taka (Updated on 18/2/2016) then this is a very good choice.

Micromax Vijoy Kurve Price and Review

Micromax Mobile Phone Company has just released a budget android smartphone, Micromax Vjoy Kurve. This Indian company is releasing some attractive low to mid-range android phone. According to Zeenews Micromax has captured 22 percent of android phone market share in India. We really impressed by its specification compared to its price. This phone has Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system. Usually, all Micromax phones used to have similar packaging. After opening the box we got headphone, USB cable, charger, documentation and the phone. Let’s see what Micromax Vjoy Kurve offering us.

Some key features:
- Dual SIM dual standby (Both SIM are active)
- 5 inch TFT display
- 5 MP rear and 2 MP front camera
- 3G supported
- Android 5.1 Lollipop
- 1.3 GHz Quad Core Processor
- 1 GB of Ram
- 8 GB Internal Memory
- Lithium-ion 2000 mAh battery
- Bluetooth v4.0
- Some of sensors

Look and feel: As with the other Mcromax phone, Micromax uses the old polycarbonate chassis design for the Vjoy Kurve. Volume rocker button and power button both are located on the right side. Left side is empty. Micro USB port located on the bottom side and standard 3.5 audio jacks located on the top side. This phone is only 8.5 mm thick. This phone really feels awesome in hand. 5 inch phone are most popular phone in the market.

I think most important part of a smartphone is design. Most people use nice looking android smartphone, Sometime they don’t bother about brand. This phone is also light enough for carry. Compared to its price you cannot expect more.

Camera and Multimedia: The device is equipped with a 2MP front camera and a 5MP main camera that takes sharp images during the day. But the performance was little poor at night. For our testing purpose we took some photos in outdoor, indoor, and in low light situation.

All photos were acceptable compared to its price. Front camera is only 2 mega pixel which is not good for sefie but it is good for video call. Camera user interface is clean and user friendly with some nice features. Multimedia section of this android smartphone is really impressive.

You can play any type of audio and video without any issue. We played mp3, mp4, wave, mpeg, avi, 3gp formats during our test. Speaker is also loud for ringtone and other notifications. Listening audio via provided headphone was really impressive.

Performance and Hardware: User interface and menu transition seemed smooth but there was a noticeable lag while playing heavy graphic games. If you are heavy gamers then you should not buy this android smartphone otherwise this is a very good phone. If you want to listen music, watch video and use some useful android apps then this is a very good choice without thinking. For light users this phone is a perfect choice. This phone has a quad core 1.3 Ghz and 1 GB of RAM. Internal memory of this phone is 8 GB.

Also you can expand its memory capability by a micro SD card which is a very affordable and easy option. Micro SD card will support up to 32 GB. I think this company should equip at least 64 GB support. Its chipset is SC 7731. This phone has only one sensor that is gravity sensor. Within this price range one sensor is acceptable. FM radio has recording capability and its dual SIM capability is very useful for a lot of users. Some built in software is not very useful.

Network: This phone makes crystal-clear calls. This phone can work both in GSM and 3G networks. Call quality in both networks was impressive. Mobile data transfer speed was really excellent. I tested the 3G speeds on the GrameenPhone network here in Bangladesh and found that this phone is capable to gain around 11Mbps download and 9Mbps in uploads.
Battery: The smartphone packs in a 2000 mAh user replaceable lithium-ion battery that struggled to last one full day. The 2,000mAh battery for 5 inch phone means you cannot use this phone for full day without a second charge or even 3rd charge if you are heavy user. Personally always i use external USB power bang no the go with android smartphone because android phone need a lot of power.

Verdict: I think within 5000 taka (Updated on 25/2/2016) this phone is good choices but remember that before buying any android smartphone you should compare other android phone within similar price range. Symphony and Walton both company has some affordable android smartphone. If you’re looking for something cheaper, there's always the Walton Primo E7 and its price is only 3990 taka, while the Zelta D100 at 4970 taka isn't too bad a deal as well.
